Five records I think y'all are sleepin' on.
Week of 7/8/21
1. Paul Cut - Ma Pauvre Cousine EP (D.KO)
Deep House / Downtempo. Before leaving on tour in 2019 with the legendary Larry Heard, Paul Cut managed to deliver his finest 4-tracker to date! Lovers of jazzy chords, fat basslines & deep grooves, you’re in for a treat!.
2. Omni A.M. - Key (Euphoria)
Tech House / Electronic / Breaks. Back in the day Marky Star & Adam Collins (aka Omni AM) were on fire, pushing the tech house sound. This re-release of their 1997 "KEY" LP still sounds innovative today. Originally only 500 copies pressed and sold at Euphoria events throughout Chicago.
3. Toollbox - Aesthetic Ep (Ball Park Records)
Deep House / Tech. Argentinian duo Toollbox presents their Aesthetic EP on the freshly launched Vinyl Only label, Ball Park Records with rising Dutch star Jesse Maas (PIV / Berg Audio) on the remix.
4. Padre - Baby Steps & Grand Gestures (Manjumasi)
Minimal / Deep Tech. Padre is Pete Lazonby's alias. This Vinyl Only release is delightfully weird and diverse. From home to the club.
5. Ludwig & Sallaerts - Entre-Acte (MEANDER 28π)
Ambient / Experimental / Leftfield. Just lovely emotive home listening EP covering ambient techno, downtempo, minimal jazz and a whole lot more. Records like this are why I love owning a record store. Best experienced for yourself.
