Notes:
The Scandinavian duo Havsmörker returns with their second release, Ilväder, a two-track EP on Refraction Records that dives into the intersection of dub techno, jazz, and Nordic folklore.
The title comes from an old dialect word used along the Swedish east coast and the Åland Islands to describe treacherous, ever-changing weather — a concept that once defined the fragile relationship between coastal communities, the sea, and survival. Recorded in 2024 at Studioepidemin in Gothenburg and shaped during the duo’s 2023 tour through the Åland archipelago, the EP expands their sonic identity through field recordings, analogue synthesis, and delicate acoustic textures, featuring Ålandic saxophonist Fredrik Mattsson on bass clarinet.
