Ruta5 announces “Labambola”, a collaboration between the label head Dandy Jack, Ramona Yacef [Lescale Recordings] and Ricardo Villalobos.
The project, born a few years ago in Switzerland, is now released in vinyl-only and dedicated to their children.
The release includes a Ricardo Villalobos remix and pays tribute to the history of the genuine techno, that never gets old.
The A-Side begins with “The Gay From Ipanema”, a bass-jumping composition, revealing Dandy Jack’s Latin origins and showcasing an uplifting rhythm elegantly built, accompanied by the ethereal vocals of Tamar Kerdikoshvili, telling a prayer in Georgian.
Up next, title track takes the journey further, rolling with a «German old-school» bleepy synth work, on an evolving background pattern, that smoothly leads Ramona Yacef’s whispered vocal shadings.
On the flipside, Ricardo Villalobos keeps the original’s rich arrangements and works his magic steering things in a tripped-out break direction through dodgy, understated shamanic motifs. These almost 15 minutes ride breathes with an organic powerful evolution that completes the set with utmost style.
The vinyl cover includes a poem written by Federico Schopf, Dandy Jack’s father, sharing a message of hope.
